Sailors Haven
Behind the dunes, American holly, sassafras, and shadbush form a low canopy the wind never quite reaches. The Sunken Forest is a globally rare maritime forest, open on a boardwalk from May to October when the Sayville ferry runs. Sailors Haven also has a guarded beach, a marina, and a visitor center.
