The Otis Pike Fire Island High Dune Wilderness is seven miles of dunes, old growth, and beach with no road and almost no boardwalk. White-tailed deer, piping plovers in season, and the feeling that the rest of New York fell away at Watch Hill. Carry water. Stay off nesting areas.
